Robak Architecture, LLC helps homeowners expand and re-imagine their kitchens -- from re-configuring a cramped layout to adding square footage with a bump-out or open-concept redesign. With over 35 years of residential architecture experience, we bring a strong eye for space planning, materials, and finishes.
Staying put and investing in your home often makes more financial and practical sense than relocating. A well-designed kitchen expansion increases resale value, eliminates the disruption of a move, and lets you shape the space around how your household actually lives.
Open-concept conversions: Removing walls to connect the kitchen to dining and living areas, improving flow and day-lighting throughout the main floor.
Bump-out additions: Extending the kitchen footprint to gain meaningful square footage for more counter space, an island, better circulation, or a dedicated prep area. Sometimes you just need more space!
Breakfast nook additions: A dedicated dining space with generous natural light and a cozy, unhurried feel -- the kind of spot that becomes the family's default gathering place. Optional built-in seating for a more custom look. Octagons make a great nook!
Pantry additions: Nothing improves a kitchen's day-to-day function quite like a dedicated room for dry goods storage. A properly designed pantry keeps counters clear, reduces clutter, and brings an order to the kitchen that's hard to achieve any other way.
We start with an in-home consultation to understand the existing conditions, your goals, and any zoning or code constraints. From there we develop the design with plans and renderings, so you can visualize the space before construction begins. It may take several iterations to get to the final design, but that's all part of the design process. Once you are satisfied with the design, we handle the permit application and make any minor corrections to the plans as needed to obtain building department approval.

The owners of a modest Cape Cod home had grown frustrated with outdated cabinets and a kitchen too cramped to be enjoyed. Cooking and entertaining felt like a chore rather than a pleasure.

Robak Architecture's solution was straightforward but transformative: remove the load-bearing wall separating the kitchen from the living room. The result was a bright, open-concept living space that made the home feel twice its size!
